Netra Basti (Ayurvedic eye therapy)
Netra Basti, also called Netra Tarpana, is a traditional Ayurvedic practice. A small dam of dough is formed around the eyes and filled with warm medicated ghee.
What is Netra Basti?
In Ayurvedic tradition it is used to nourish, lubricate and hydrate the eyes, ease dryness and irritation, and relax eye strain, for example after long hours at a screen.
It is given by staff trained in Ayurveda at our clinic.

- People with dry or tired eyes from screen use.
- Ayurveda patients as part of their wellness plan.
What a session is like
- You lie down comfortably while the dam is formed around your eyes.
- You keep your eyes in the warm ghee, gently opening and closing them.
- The session takes about 45 minutes; vision may be blurry for a few minutes afterward.
How to prepare
Please arrive 10 minutes before your appointment. Bring an ID and a list of the medications and supplements you take.
Do not wear contact lenses (bring your glasses) or eye makeup. Your vision may be blurry for a while afterwards, so we suggest not driving immediately right after. Tell us if you have an eye infection, glaucoma or recent eye surgery.
Precautions
- Not recommended with an active eye infection, recent eye surgery or uncontrolled glaucoma.
- If you wear contact lenses, remove them before the session.
- It does not replace an assessment by an ophthalmologist.
